The Pan African Film Festival!

I was recently lucky enough to cover the Red Carpet Report for Mingle Media TV at the 21st Annual Pan African Film Festival held at the DGA theater in Hollywood! The goal of the festival is to showcase black and african films, arts, crafts and creative expression. Nearly 150 plus films from around the world were shown as well as prolific fine artists, poets and talented musicians. I was able to interview several celebrities such as Actor Tim Holmes for the film OZ, along with Actresses Loretta Devine, Vanessa Bell Calloway and Ella Joyce to name a few. I was also able to chat with filmmaker Antwone Fisher and several other filmmakers who had works showcased at the festival. There was also a wonderful reception held in the lobby at the DGA theater on opening night at the festival! Here are some photos and interviews from the event, check it out!

3 sold out shows!

Well I’m finally coming down from the high of performing in front of 3 sold out crowds at Stage 52 playhouse for the play “It Always Rains on Sunday” written by Scherrie Payne. That was my first experience performing in front of star names such as Loretta Devine, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Bill Cobbs, Kenny Lattimore (whom I have interviewed on the red carpet at events), just to name a few! We also had industry talent agents and managers attend, theatre producers as well as music producers, family and friends. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had working in the theatre. I had forgotten how much hard work goes in to doing a play. I was able to work with an amazing director/producer Don B. Welch and a hugely talented cast, I definitely had to step up my game with this project lol! All my years of training and study prepared me to play the role of ”Louise Patterson” in “It Always Rains on Sunday”. I was challenged and pushed to my limit, and I loved it! I am so deeply grateful for this experience and I can honestly say that I have grown tremendously as an actor and as a person and I can’t wait to tackle my next project!

Here are a few pictures from the show,  you can see more over at Actress-Host Stephanie Garrett on Facebook!
